East Of Greenwich

How did a swamp at the tip of Malaya become one of the most important places on Earth? Why does one Dutch company decide who can make the world's best chips? What actually happens when you send a message across an ocean?

East of Greenwich tells the stories behind how the world works: the geography, machines and hidden systems that shape everyday life, and the chains of events that rarely run in a straight line.

New stories every week, built from maps, data and original animation. Every video lists its sources.
