The Deep South Center for Environmental Justice (DSCEJ) works to protect communities from environmental harm and build climate readiness. We focus on Black communities and low-income neighborhoods facing the greatest environmental health risks from industrial facilities, flooding, and hazardous waste. Founded by Dr. Beverly Wright and based in historic New Orleans East, we serve communities in the Gulf South and beyond.

Through the lens of the Communiversity model, DSCEJ provides environmental research, worker training, community education, and policy support to address pollution, toxic exposure, climate preparedness, and disaster recovery. 

We are also dedicated to developing the next generation of EJ leaders through student programs such as our annual HBCU Climate Change Conference. 

The Deep South Center for Environmental Justice is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
