Dr. Gordon "Oz" Osinski

Hello. My name is Dr. Gordon Osinski, although most people call me “Oz”. I am a Professor in the Department of Earth Sciences at Western University, Canada. My research interests focus on planetary geology and astrobiology. I got into geology because I love being outdoors. I have conducted fieldwork on 6 continents, from Antarctica to Africa, but the Canadian Arctic is where much of my research takes place.

In addition to scientific research, I am also involved in several past and ongoing planetary exploration-related activities. I am a Co-Investigator on the PanCam instrument on the European ExoMars mission to Mars and in November 2022 I was named as Principal Investigator of the Canadian Lunar Rover Mission – Canada’s first ever rover mission to the Moon. For the past decade, I have also been involved in providing geology training to Canadian and US astronauts and I am on the Geology Team for the Artemis III mission, the first human mission to return to the Moon in over 50 years.
