Dawn2Dusk Ocean Paddler

Dubai might not be recognised for its downwind ocean paddling conditions, but it's a place where you can paddle all year round. Summers are warm, but winters are mild. Dubai does offer 3 different downwind conditions; westerlies, northerlies (both generated by the local Shamal winds) and on the rare occasion, a southerly wind.

I'm a bloke, originally from South Africa, who now paddles regularly in Dubai. Join me as I share our communities paddling activities in the UAE and around the world.

Surfski's are light weight water craft similar to a kayak, but with an open "sit on top" cockpit and a self-bailer to eliminate water. Designed for speed and stability to catch fast ocean swells on the open sea. A powerful rudder connected to a pedal on a foot plate controls the boat direction while surfing the ocean swells.

Once you've experienced the thrills and speeds of harnessing the power of the ocean, you'll endlessly be addicted to this exhilarating sport of Surfski paddling.
