David Dumbrell Automata

David Dumbrell's work combines the skills of wood sculpting, metal working and creativity of design and concept with the complexity of engineering and electronics. He is one of the only automata artists today who handcrafts the metal mechanisms for his kinetic sculptures. 
David is directly inspired by the Swiss automaton makers of the 18th century, Pierre Jaquet-Droz and Henri Maillardet. His creations are equal parts classical sensibility and contemporary reflection.
