CSOs for Tailings Justice

We are committed to building democratic community power to address the dangers of mine waste, including tailings facilities. We take a non-sectarian approach and build alliances with trade unions, NGOs, and women's and youth organisations, both here and internationally.

Together with our allies, we resist the unjust power of corporations and push for laws and regulations that serve people, not profits.

We run conscientisation programmes on the threat tailings dams and mine waste pose to lives, livelihoods, health and the environment. The climate crisis makes dam failures more likely. Mining and the growing demand for "critical" minerals, driven by AI, data centres and green technology, threaten clean water worldwide, and the poorest communities are hit hardest.

We demand justice, an accountable participatory democracy and a future where people and the planet come first.
