CPGFA Cairns Professional Gamefishing Association

In 2026, the Cairns Professional Game Fishing Association (CPGFA) celebrates 60 years of the giant black marlin fishery in Cairns. The association was formed in 1972 representing the professional marlin fishing charter operators and the people who work in the industry.

Our members extend well beyond Cairns, along Australia’s east coast. We continue to advocate for them with government and industry, promote high standards of conduct and safety through our Code of Practice, and support research into the fishery and its future.
