Concubine King

Concubine King was among the many passion projects born out of the 2020 pandemic. The name itself signifies not feeling good enough—it’s about having the knowledge and the skills but feeling powerless to make an actual difference in the world. The name reflects the idea of a concubine who services the king, in all the various ways, but is always put in second place. Concubine King challenges the position of those in power and questions whether true authority lies in those who seemingly have no say in the matter. The music reflects a longing and a desire for more, but feeling stymied by circumstances, time, or even one’s own ability to effect change.
