Charles Thomson Bible

The Holy Bible as Charles Thomson translated it from the Greek in 1808, being developed into an app, digital copy, and physical Bible.

Charles Thomson, Secretary of the Continental Congress, spent nearly twenty years translating the whole Bible from Greek: the Old Covenant from the Septuagint, the ancient Greek translation often quoted by the New Testament writers, and the New Covenant from the Greek New Testament. Published in Philadelphia in 1808, it was the first English translation of the Septuagint and the first Bible translated in America.

Our app will allow you to hear Thomson's text read chapter by chapter, from Genesis to Revelation, word for word as he printed it, with the words on screen as they're read. Listen straight through the whole Bible, follow along with a reading plan, or come back to a favourite psalm.
