O CESEM é uma unidade de investigação dedicada ao estudo da Música e das suas correlações com as outras artes, a cultura e a sociedade, incorporando abordagens diversas e fazendo uso das perspectivas e metodologias mais recentes nas Ciências Sociais e Humanas. 
CESEM is a research unit committed to the study of Music and its correlations with the other arts and the social and cultural fields, addressing a variety of approaches and engaging with the most recent perspectives and methodological trends in the Social and Human Sciences.
