THE CBC MUSIC PLAYLIST CHALLENGE

Welcome to THE CBC MUSIC PLAYLIST CHALLENGE #BlackMusicMatters Edition, bringing Canadian Hip Hop music and students together!

We are challenging all of you students and teachers out there to create a 15-song YouTube playlist of your favourite Black Canadian Musicians.

Celebrate Black History Month in the classroom, by learning about Hip Hop & Social Justice in Canada in THIS lesson plan created by black educators Darren Hamilton and Jon Corbin for MusiCounts, this music education charity for the JUNO Awards. It's a free listening-and-enquiry-based resource designed for teachers with students in grades 7-12 who wish to explore Black culture, history, and creation, specifically through the lens of Hip Hop music.

Contest Opens Monday, February 5th, 2024 at 9:00 am ET

Contest Closes Tuesday, March 26th, 2024 at 3:00 pm ET and one lucky class will be randomly drawn to win an online performance and Q&A with R&B artist Chad Price!
