Broke in Japan 🇯🇵 Cody

I’m a 28-year-old Japanese man carrying a debt of 5 million yen ($33,000). I used to live a normal life until I was scammed by a friend I trusted.

In Japan, falling off the track can feel like the end. I live day by day, counting every coin, fighting against the weight of repayment and deep loneliness. Instead of a comfortable home, I find myself in capsule hotels and overnight buses, wandering through the country.

Through this channel, I share the reality of being "Broke in Japan" — survival on a budget, cheap travel, and the raw, unfiltered struggle to find hope in the dark. I film my journey of escaping reality, capturing the side of Japan that tourists rarely see.

This isn’t the glossy Japan you see in travel guides. This is the real life of a man starting over from minus. Where despair, regret, and a tiny glimmer of hope coexist.
