Between Orchards, Dikes & Giants

I want to share the Alte Land because it is a place of quiet beauty, where orchards, dikes, winding paths, and wide skies still tell their own stories. This channel is about the peaceful corners, the simple moments, and the hidden places that are often overlooked in a fast-moving world. Through these videos, I hope to show not only the landscape, but also the calm, warmth, and timeless soul that make this region so special.Once, the Altes Land was a wet, windswept marsh shaped by the Elbe’s floods. Then Dutch settlers arrived with hard-earned knowledge: they built dikes, dug drainage channels, and reclaimed land from water and silt. It was slow, difficult work, and when storms broke their defenses, they rebuilt and carried on.
Over time, marsh became meadow, meadow became farm, and farms became orchards. In spring, apple blossoms still cover the land like a white and pink sea.
