BeanBench

Specialty coffee, dialed in. Brewing experiments that show which variable actually changed the cup.

Pour over and espresso tested one variable at a time. Grind size, brew ratio, water temperature, rest time. I run the comparison, show the numbers, and report what the cup actually did, including the runs that go against the popular advice.

Also here: bean reviews, grinder and brewer tests, and walkthroughs of the recipes worth stealing (Hoffmann V60, Kasuya 4:6, blooming espresso).

I build BeanBench, a free iOS coffee journal, plus free browser calculators that scale any recipe to your dose and tell you when a bag has peaked.
