Peraica: Heritage & Postdigital Photography

Heritage & Postdigital Photography is a channel about how historical photography and contemporary photographic images meet, resemble, and unsettle each other. It brings together conference lectures, symposium talks and conversations on photographic archives and heritage, algorithmic and AI image-making, evidence and reproduction, photography and the environment, and the politics of images.

The channel grows out of Atelier Peraica, a photographic atelier on the Peristyle in Split, founded in 1934 and run today across three generations. Its archive of negatives, cameras and lighting equipment is a working basis for the research presented here.
