Anchorsmashed

Ahoy! We are Anchorsmashed, a pirate metal band from Edinburgh, Scotland. Founded in 1975 as Johnathon Anchor And His Smashing Orchestra, a 17 piece light orchestra who covered pop songs of the day with a nautical twist, the band took a more synthesised turn in the mid 80s when Johnathon Anchor stepped down and Abraham Blackett Sr. took over as band leader. Throughout the remainder of that decade and for the 90s and early 2000s, Blackett Sr. shaped the band closer to the present day Anchorsmashed. The band only adopted this moniker after Blackett Sr. was killed in a tragic accident at a fish processing plant in Greenland during the summer of 2017. At this point A. J. Blackett (aka Abraham Blackett Jnr. aka Big Boots McGinty aka The Scourge of Palnackie aka Where's Me Mars Bar) stepped in to fill his father's role and tossed the whole synthpop thing in the toilet and started a pirate metal band.
