Situated in the vibrant ecosystems of Kachemak Bay, Coastal Studies has been encouraging visitors and youth to explore, connect with, and protect their environments since 1982. From youth overnight summer camps to retreats and workshops for any age, we have programs delivering experiential, place-based education designed to immerse you in the ecosystems of Kachemak Bay. Each of our tours and experiences ignite a sense of wonder for coastal ecosystems. From guided hikes through boreal forests to ocean adventures at the edge of vast wilderness, our talented naturalists provide unforgettable Alaskan experiences.

Since 1984, our annual CoastWalk involves more than 200 volunteers who adopt a section of Kachemak Bay's shoreline and survey changes, collect data on marine life and human impacts, and clean up beach litter and marine debris.
