Maxine Golden | Adoption Parenting

Adoption and foster parenting help for families raising children from hard places.

I'm Maxine Golden, Parent Coach and Clinical Director. For over 25 years I've worked with adoptive, foster and court-involved families, and most parenting advice falls apart the moment trauma is in the room. Sticker charts don't reach a dysregulated nervous system. Consequences don't build attachment.

Here you'll find what works: connection over correction, calming your own nervous system so you can help your child calm theirs, meltdowns, birth family questions, and why your child's brain responds the way it does. I draw on Brainspotting, TBRI, Polyvagal Theory and play therapy, made practical for real family life.
