Ada Igwe Umunri

Welcome to Ada Igwe Umunri - a digital heritage project dedicated to documenting, exploring and preserving Igbo stories, traditions and heritage for the next generation.

Here, we go beyond the surface to explore Igbo history, Umunri heritage, traditions, language, names, customs, people and the stories that have shaped our identity.

We ask questions, investigate the past and bring different perspectives together, because not every story has one version, and preserving our heritage means being honest about what we know, what has been passed down through oral tradition, and what remains debated.

From the history of our people to the traditions we are at risk of forgetting, Ada Igwe Umunri is a place to learn, remember, question and preserve.

Our mission:

To document, explain and preserve Igbo stories, traditions and heritage for the next generation.

Welcome. Let’s discover where we come from, and make sure the stories are not forgotten.
