Accelerated Surgical Care HRC

NIHR HealthTech Research Centre in Accelerated Surgical Care has 3 technology themes:

1. early diagnosis & personalized care: focus on technologies to diagnose disease earlier and select best treatment for every patient.
2. minimally invasive therapies & digital technologies: focus on surgical devices and digital technologies that make surgery more precise, less invasive, and safer.
3. assisted healing & rehabilitation: focus on technologies to speed up recovery from surgery and allow safe discharge to home or community care.

3 methodology themes:
1. Surgical Care Observatory: will identify and select technologies with greatest potential to improve surgical care and benefit patients.
2. Timely clinical & economic evaluation: will produce reliable evidence to reduce time taken to assess safety, effectiveness and value for money for NHS. 
3. Sustainability & NHS net carbon zero: will reduce surgical waste, increase recycling, and help NHS achieve zero-carbon footprint by 2040.
