Your Mom's Romance Shelf

Welcome to Your Mom’s Romance Shelf — a podcast about the romance novels that shaped generations of readers.

From bodice rippers and vintage romance to forgotten gems and early-2000s favorites, we’re digging into the books your mom (or maybe your older sister) was reading before BookTok existed.

Hosted by romance reader and creator Alli Mowrey, each episode explores the stories, tropes, authors, cultural moments, and fantasies behind the romance novels we can’t stop talking about. Expect conversations with romance authors, scholars, booksellers, readers, and other fascinating voices.

Whether you love historical romance, contemporary romance, spicy romance, nostalgic reads, or just want to understand why women have been obsessed with romance novels for decades, you’re in the right place.

New episodes, bookish deep dives, author conversations, and plenty of romance.
