Whencery

Whencery tells how places came to be, in order, from the ground up.

Season 1 is the story of New York City from the Ice Age to 1764. The season begins with the ice sheet that shaped the land and the Lenape homeland that followed. From there, the story follows Henry Hudson's ship, Dutch New Amsterdam and English New York, through Leisler's Rebellion, the Zenger trial and the fires of 1741. By 1764, New York's Assembly is protesting taxes laid without the colony's consent, and the season ends there.

Every episode draws on the historical record and unfolds on animated maps and models. Each episode description lists the sources.
