Weird Music Night

“Weird, wacky, and wildly entertaining.” New Haven Independent

Weird Music Night aims to offer musicians a chance to experiment beyond the confines of a typical music venue. It also provides a context for artists to experiment with sound-based projects. Additionally, it introduces visual artists and their supporters to experimental music. Attendees can expect to experience art performances, puppetry, experimental music, and other unexpected events. The concept is inspired by the diverse punk scenes of the 1980s and the mythology surrounding Japanese noise music. Interviews with early punk scene participants reveal that these underground events often resembled variety shows featuring various acts with distinct sounds and styles. This diversity creates a dynamic and unique context for each performance. Unexpected connections and collaborations emerge when these disparate parts are arranged with intention. Weird Music Night is curated by artist John ODonnell Projects.
