Utgivarna

Utgivarna is a special interest organisation for Swedish publishers. Within Utgivarna, media organisations that safeguard freedom of expression and uphold independent journalism work together. Our members are Tidningsutgivarna (the Newspaper Publishers’ Association), Sveriges Tidskrifter (the Magazine Publishers’ Association), Swedish Television (SVT), Swedish Radio (SR), the Educational Broadcasting Company (UR), and TV4.

Utgivarna seeks to strengthen the unique Swedish system of a responsible publisher, who bears sole responsibility for all published content. This system provides the foundation for journalism that is both fearless and accountable.

Utgivarna works to safeguard Swedish freedom of the press and freedom of expression by critically reviewing all domestic and international proposals for change, and by acting against any proposal that risks restricting the freedom of Swedish media.
