United Nations Office to the African Union (UNOAU)

The United Nations Office to the African Union (UNOAU) was established on 1 July 2010 by UN General Assembly Resolution 64/288 and supports the implementation of the UN–AU Joint Framework for Enhanced Partnership in Peace and Security.

This channel showcases how the UN and the AU work together to prevent conflict, address root causes, and sustain peace across Africa. Through early warning, mediation, peace operations, and coordinated responses, the partnership advances integrated solutions linking peace, security, development, and human rights.

Grounded in principles of consultation, complementarity, and shared responsibility, the UN–AU partnership strengthens collective action to address complex challenges, from governance and human rights to climate related security risks.

UNOAU provides coordinated UN support to the African Union, enhancing collaboration at strategic and operational levels to deliver effective, timely, and sustainable peace and security outcomes.
