Under A Glass Bell - Official

Based in west London and Norwich, Under A Glass Bell shone briefly in the Indie scene of the mid-1980's.

The trio of vocalist Ruth Stevens, guitarist Simon Mariani, and bassist Ian Hare (backed by their trusty Roland TR707 drum machine) gained favourable reviews for their three vinyl releases in Time Out, the NME and Melody Maker - and a less flattering one from the Heavy Metal-leaning Sounds - which they saw as a badge of honour. With influences ranging from Jefferson Airplane to The March Violets, UAGB were described in strikingly bipolar terms - as “psycho-gothery” to “an inviting voice over a tangle of tinkling guitars.”

As a new generation of vinyl collectors discover us some 40 years later, we feel it's time for an official UAGB channel featuring our vinyl releases, demos, rehearsals, and the occasional live performance. Sadly, there’s no live video footage, but if people are inspired to create videos to accompany our music, we'd love to see them. Best, Ian, Ruth and Si.
