The Thorney Island Society is a voluntary amenity and civic society, which was founded in 1985. It is concerned with the welfare of the physical environment of the area sometimes referred to as “Westminster Village”. We organise visits and talks, review planning applications, and maintain a local archive. There are currently more than 350 members, and we would welcome more. The Society takes its name from the island in the Thames upon which Westminster Abbey was first built.
