Things We Cannot Change: Grief, Addiction, Healing

Here you will find stories, art, and honest conversations about grief, addiction, and the ghosts we carry.

I'm Allison Spooner. I lost my father to alcoholism at 15, and that loss became the heart of my novel, The Things We Cannot Change: A Story about the Ghosts Created by Addiction. I wrote that book because years of struggling with guilt, shame, and anger taught me that grief is complicated.

So I created this space for us to talk about it. Whether you're mourning someone complicated, navigating your own recovery, or trying to support someone you love, this channel is for you. We share stories, we create, we listen — and we remind each other that healing doesn't look the same for everyone.

You're not alone here.
