The Thin Edge

The world records that defined sport, and the limits behind them. Why some records stand for decades, and what finally breaks them.

Every episode of The Thin Edge takes one record: the four-minute mile, the two-hour marathon, the 100 metres, the long jump, the hour. We follow it from the first mark to today, graph the whole record progression, find the years the line went flat, and check the famous stories against the original sources.

Why has a 1983 world record never been beaten? Why does the pole vault record rise one centimetre at a time? Who really broke the wall, and what did it cost?

Sports history documentaries, plus Shorts. Sources are listed under every video.
