The professional Swedish dance company 'The Rhythm Hot Shots' was formed in the summer of 1985; a direct result of an invitation from the New York City-based 'Harlem Blues & Jazz Band' to join them on their tour of Sweden. The company's repertoire was from the very beginning greatly inspired by old-school American show business traditions, and primarily dealt with vernacular African-American dance styles originally emanating from Harlem, New York City. Many of the troupe's numbers were recreations and homages to numerous legendary dancers of the jazz era. Over the years, the troupe's collaborations have also been with luminaries such as Frankie Manning, Norma Miller, Harold Nicholas, Chazz Young, Fayard Nicholas et cetera. The company in its original form operated until 2003, when their legacy was then passed onto Harlem Hot Shots (now Hot Shots), who continues the tradition started in 1985 to this day.
