Welcome to the YouTube channel for The RUG Project at the University of Texas at Arlington. 

On August 15, 2021, the Taliban took control of Afghanistan sparking a humanitarian crisis that has devastated the country. It is most dire for Afghan women and girls who have been barred from political, social, and economic life and forbidden an education. For their safety, many women and their families fled to other countries.  

The RUG Project shares Afghan women refugees’ courageous stories. The research project elevates their voices as an act of defiance and recognizes their resilience, promotes global unity, and guides efforts for social change. Watch as Afghan women refugees tell their stories of the Taliban takeover and the challenges they’ve faced during resettlement.
