The Physical Cloud

How data centers really work, from the fence to the rack, and the people who build and run them.

The Physical Cloud walks through a data center layer by layer: perimeter, entrance, operations, power, cooling, fire and life safety, connections and data halls. Every episode ends with the jobs behind that layer. These careers have many ways in: from trades like electrician or mechanic, from technical training, from IT, and from completely different jobs.

The series is set in TPC, a fictional campus modeled and rendered in Unreal Engine 5, so every room and system can be shown without revealing anything about a real site. Your guide is Rick, who has spent twenty years inside data centers.

Two rules: no number on screen without its source, and no sound, smell or vibration described unless Rick has experienced it himself.

The narration uses an AI clone of Rick's own voice. Some 3D assets are made with the help of AI tools.
