It was a normal Wednesday morning for Melanie Johnson, aspiring singer from Ladera Heights, Melissa Muhammad, slam poet from Inglewood, and Melody Carter, future music producer from Bel Air as they prepared with great anticipation for their first day at the world renowned Holly High Conservatory for the Arts.....normal that is, until they get convinced by their home room teacher Mrs. Wilde to leave school with her unexpectedly.

They get lured away to Edith Mae Academy for Girls, an underground narnia for young, gifted Black girls.
