The Locust Retires

Retired and age 61. Moving to Taiwan — not for adventure, not to teach English, and definitely not because I speak Mandarin. (I don't. I've been trying for 28 years.)

After nearly three decades of visiting my wife's home country, every excuse not to move here has finally run out. So here we are — based in Hsinchu, figuring out retirement in a place where I'm the one who can't read the menu.

Honest takes on Taiwan from someone who's been coming here long enough to know better than to pretend it's perfect, but experienced enough to know it's a great country to live in.
