The Jonah Hex

In 1997, Welsh band The Jonah Hex were rising stars of the Cool Cymru scene, set to release their debut album. Forged at Newport's TJs club, they'd released the "Learn to Love the Bomb" EP and featured on two now-collectable compilations: Fierce Panda's "Dial M for Merthyr" and "I Was A Teenage Gwent Boy," which launched the infamous TJs music scene.

Signed to management, they joined the notorious Splash Tour, filmed for TV. Demos were cut, gigs grew, London showcases followed — then it fell apart. A management dispute saw the album shelved, labels walk away, and the band split. The master tapes vanished. It should have ended there.

Decades later, guitarist Mark, now running label Eventful Records, was asked by a TV company about the Welsh new wave's origins. Using AI, he restored the tracks from a surviving CD. The band reunited to finish mixing, 30 years on, naming it "A Heart Full of Ghosts." The Jonah Hex: Mark Evans, Mike Harper, Nick Withey, Julian Carey, Mark Calloway. Enjoy.
