The Indian Society of Criminology

The Indian Society of Criminology (ISC), established in 1970, is a pioneering organisation dedicated to advancing the study and application of criminology and allied sciences. Headquartered at the Department of Criminology, University of Madras, Chennai, and founded by eminent scholars—including Hon’ble Justice V. R. Krishna Iyer, Prof. T. E. Shanmugam, and Prof. K. Chockalingam—the Society brings together criminologists, sociologists, psychologists, judges, lawyers, police and correctional officers, forensic scientists, social workers, academicians, and criminal justice professionals from India and abroad. ISC advances its objectives through national and international conferences, symposia, training programmes, public lectures, research initiatives, and awareness programmes. The Society has organised 45 All India Criminology Conferences, publishes the Indian Journal of Criminology, and confers awards and fellowships recognising excellence in criminology and criminal justice.
