Back to the Workbench is  about repairs, experiments, and seeing how equipment actually behaves at the bench.

I’m James, based in Ibiza. I’ve spent most of my working life in production — sound, video, lighting, and staging — across the music industry, theatre, film, and television.

These videos are edutainment, not tutorials. They show real processes, including uncertainty, mistakes, and dead ends, rather than step-by-step instruction.

Most episodes are bench sessions — old gear, modern gear, things I know well and things I’ve never worked on before. Occasionally there are Field Notes: gear I use in real professional work, outside the main bench repairs.
