The Bayonet Point

True military history, told from the men who were there.

The Bayonet Point tells true military history through the people who lived it. Each episode starts from a firsthand source, such as a diary, a letter home, an after-action report or an oral history, and follows one soldier, sailor or airman through a single day or a single fight. Many of these accounts sat for decades in archives and regimental papers. We check them against the record, say plainly where sources disagree, and leave out anything we can't support. The name refers to three things: the tip of the blade, the point man walking ahead of his unit, and the point of the story we're trying to tell. New episodes are made for adult viewers and contain frank descriptions of combat.
