The first way to know of God's goodness is to repent of sin. 
The Process:
1.  Ask God to forgive you of all the wrong you have done.
2.  Believe that He died on the cross and rose again specifically for you. :-)
3.  Confess to others that you have asked Him into your life to be your personal Savior.
