🧬 About My Disease

I have Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT), a group of inherited conditions that damage the peripheral nerves. It is also known as hereditary motor and sensory neuropathy (HMSN) or peroneal muscular atrophy (PMA).

The peripheral nerves are located outside the central nervous system. They control the muscles and relay sensory information, such as the sense of touch, from the limbs to the brain.

CMT is a progressive condition, meaning that its symptoms can slowly worsen over time, making everyday tasks increasingly difficult. Symptoms usually begin between the ages of 5 and 15, although they can sometimes appear much later in life.

TNX for the support!🫶
