Swampalachia

The Swampalachia duo swirls together the traditional sounds of Cajun swamps and Appalachian peaks into a whole new groove. A typical set list includes Cajun, Old Time, Irish, Honky -Tonk and Blues. BUT…most importantly…they fuse those styles into entirely new, dynamic sounds. Such as Bluegrass tunes done to a Cajun beat. Or Cajun tunes played on the banjo. Or Appalachian songs reimagined in Cajun French.

Trent Van Blaircom and Jeff Benedict are long-time Asheville players who have come together in a creative spirit to break some new ground. Trent leads the powerhouse Cajun band Zydeco Ya Ya and Jeff fronts My New Favorites, a popular Americana band. With Swampalachia, these talented and experienced performers are blending their diverse repertoires and distilling them into a whole new fun thing.
