Struck by Lightning: A Brain Tumor Journey

What is it like to live with glioblastoma? Struck by Lightning follows H Gulick’s brain cancer journey through honest, ongoing conversations with his friend Tim Mayer.

A paramedic for more than thirty years and a senior FBI agent until his diagnosis, H brings humor, humility and thoughtfulness to life as a husband, father and patient. Together, we explore treatment, uncertainty, family, friendship and everyday life, hoping to help patients, families and caregivers feel less alone.

H shares his experience with glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), including wild-type and unmethylated tumor pathology, and treatment at NYU Langone Health. Topics include brain tumor surgery, craniotomy recovery, radiation therapy, Temodar chemotherapy, MRI results, clinical trials, treatment side effects and the emotional realities of living with brain cancer.

This is one person’s experience, not medical advice.
