Sonia D. Hebdon, Special Needs Children's Writer

Sonia D. Hebdon is an Australian Christian author writing for outsider teens and young adults who see the world differently. An autism advocate and mother of three autistic teens, she weaves lived experience, empathy, and faith into every book.
Her YA paranormal mystery series, Haven Cove, blends small-town secrets, living ink, and unexplained phenomena with subtle threads of faith—often described as Nancy Drew meets Stranger Things with an ’80s alternative edge. Themes of identity, purpose, and belief run throughout.
She also writes autism-positive early readers and the nonfiction guide The Crazy Mother’s Guide, supporting families navigating autism and mental health.
Her stories offer more than escape—they offer belonging, purpose, and hope. All her work is LARGE PRINT designed to make it easier to read for children and teens with ASD, ADHD and DYSLEXIA. She is an author who writes exclusively for children and families with disabilities.
