Solveig Varn's Home

Old-fashioned homemaking ways to keep a home light, warm and simple, from a grandmother who has kept house for fifty-eight years.

I am Solveig. I grew up on a small farm in Värmland, Sweden, and I have lived in Minnesota since 1968. I taught home economics for thirty years: cooking, mending, and running a home on a careful budget.

We were all taught to buy more and keep everything. Nobody taught us how to let go, how to waste nothing, or how to make a small house feel warm. That is what we do here: Swedish death cleaning and decluttering for seniors, downsizing without tears, old-fashioned homemaking and frugal living, grandma tips that save money every month, cozy ways through a long winter, and how to leave things easy for the people you love.

Tell me where you are watching from, and which corner of your home needs us most. I read every comment with my morning coffee.
