Solent Mitigation Partnership

The Solent Mitigation Partnership is a collaborative initiative formed by 16 local authorities working together to unlock housing development within The Solent region.

The Solent and River Itchen, protected for their rich ecosystems, face harm from nutrient overloads that threaten biodiversity. To prevent further environmental damage, all new developments with overnight accommodation in South Hampshire must mitigate their nutrient impacts.

We offer developers trusted credit solutions aligned with environmental regulations, ensuring developments are nutrient neutral, with all of our schemes approved by Natural England. 

By adopting a strategic approach, we help ensure mitigation keeps pace with planned long-term growth across The Solent. Our mission is to facilitate carefully planned placemaking without compromising The Solent.
