Shirley Kent Ukulele

I started professional singing at the age of fifteen. My career has encompassed the musical spectrum, Folk, Rock, Jazz and Popular music. In 1969 I was a member of the UK band THE GHOST. With Ghost and as a solo artist, I appeared on the John Peel BBC programme SOUND OF THE SEVENTIES. You can find information about those sessions in the Ken Garner book IN SESSION TONIGHT. For a short while I reinvented myself as Virginia Tree and have a collectable album out there. Sadly I no longer hold rights on this master. Presently being bootlegged. Jazz however pulled me back to solo work and through this time I would play second on the bill to Stephane Grappelli, Oscar Peterson, Buddy Rich, Woody Herman, Blossom Dearie, George Melley, Dakota Stanton, Roland Kirk, John Dankworth with Cleo Laine, Mark Murphy, Jon Hendricks, Doris Troy, Count Basie, Humphrey Littleton band, Buddy Rich Band, and too many more to list here.
