SMU HUSKIES FOOTBALL

The Saint Mary's Huskies football team, representing Saint Mary's University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, is renowned in Canadian university football. They have excelled in the AUS conference, winning three Vanier Cups, and securing 24 Jewett Trophy conference championships. The team achieved the rare feat of back-to-back championships in 2001 and 2002 and holds the distinction of being the last AUS team to both reach and win a Vanier Cup (in 2007 and 2002, respectively). Standout players like Chris Flynn, a three-time Hec Crighton Trophy winner, have contributed to their legacy.

In coaching, Steve Sumarah, who led the team to success from 2006 to 2011, returned as head coach in 2022. The Saint Mary's Huskies remain a dominant force, symbolizing excellence and consistency in Canadian university football.
