Rebecca Raney - The Reckless Violinist

Hello, and welcome to my channel! For most of my life, I've worked as a journalist. Before that, I trained as a violinist.

I quit playing 25 years ago, and now, I'm trying to retrace my musical training.

In my teens, I competed at state and national levels. I played with a scholarship in the University of Missouri Philharmonic. It was the equivalent of playing a sport in the NCAA, but with no intention of declaring for the draft.

After graduation, I played in semi-professional orchestras. However, when my reporting career ramped up, I had to walk away.

Join me as I work my way through re-tracing my training and re-establishing the discipline of the violin.

What have I concluded? After all those years of learning to play, quitting was nothing short of reckless.
