Physical Media is Alive

Physical media stores music on an object that can remain in your collection. An LP has grooves, open-reel tape and a Compact Cassette hold music magnetically, a CD carries optical digital data, and a MiniDisc puts a small magneto optical disc inside a cartridge.

The formats differ in sound, capacity, cost, ease of carrying, recordability and the player they need. A format is never just the object, it is also the machines, habits, shops, artwork and memories that grew around it.
