Bread, Roof & Fire

Ember is a dog who has lived in every age. In Edo he slept by the brazier; in the taiga, on top of the stove; in Tenochtitlan, next to the comal. He has never understood kings, but he always knows the warmest spot in the house.

He travels with his family: dad, mum and their little girl, ordinary people who change clothes, names and trades in every century — selling tofu, sowing wheat, herding sheep — and open their door so we can see how people really ate, kept warm, healed and worked.

And at the end of every video, a question for you: how did your family do it?
